Poker's Ponzi Scheme?

I feel like I need to blog about the recent news to clarify some things...

Right now, it feels like a situation where you constantly have to defend yourself/your job/ your life to everyone, and when the news keeps getting worse it's not so fun. Hopefully this post will answer some of your questions.

Last week many of you probably saw the coverage about Full Tilt Poker and the new crackdowns on some additional players. If you didn't see that on the cover of multiple newspapers or websites, you most certainly saw, or at least heard, that the feds are calling Full Tilt Poker a Ponzi Scheme.

Here is a link to an article explaining the events of last week and how the numbers break down: Poker News

What the future holds for online poker is unknown. I/we think that this sets back the US from legalizing or regulating online poker sooner rather than later. It definitely seems like the news keeps getting worse; however, there is some light at the end of the tunnel (sort of).

To start, if the money is actually seized from these owners, there is a chance that we will actually get back the money we had on the account. That is not certain, but wishful thinking never hurt. Secondly, the day after this story broke, news started coming out that there is a team of French investors in talks to buy Full Tilt. They apparently didn't run off when the most recent charges were filed. If they go through with the purchase, there most definitely has to be a clause that the players have to be repaid first before they can make profit. So the good news boils down to the players getting their money back eventually. Fingers crossed. Whether they will be able to actually work in the US in the next 5 years is rocky, but that doesn't concern most of them.

I hope that clears up some of your questions. Since we are headed home THIS WEEK (!!) I wanted to sort of cut this off at the pass with the best information we have so that we can all enjoy our time in the States and not worry about this silly poker nonsense :)

Can't wait to see many of you soon! If you have any other questions or comments on this topic, please don't hesitate to email me or leave a message.

Have a great Monday. xox
