Foodie Friday

Yesterday after class, Laura and I went to hang out and have lunch at a little place called The Starving Artist. She had researched coffee bars/lunch/free Wifi places so we gave it a try. This restaurant is technically a "Waffle Espresso Bar." Everything on the menu is centered around waffles. There are the obvious breakfast choices of eggs, waffles and fruit...or there are some dishes for the more adventurous.

I had a delish Tex Mex Chicken Sandwich on seasoned waffles. It was pulled chicken mixed with salsa and jalapenos in between two waffles. Hard to imagine- much less eat- waffles that weren't sweet. But it's really the same type of batter, just bland. They season it with whatever the dish calls for. Mine had spices. Laura's were plain for her veggie sandwich. The dessert waffles have things like graham cracker crumbs or chocolate chips or fruit mixed in. Strange, but incredible!

Last night was also Dan's big business dinner at the Harbor 60 Steakhouse. One of the poker sites held a dinner for their top players who are ranked in the "supernova elite." (Dan played mostly on a different site, so he is not a supernova elite on this site yet.) An ND grad who plays poker and is living in Toronto is one of the elite. He invited Dan as his +1 to come and meet some other players and the Poker Stars rep. After a 4+ hour dinner being wined and dined, here are some pictures of his meal. They started with a seafood tower with huge shrimp, crab legs, lobster tails.... He had a filet for dinner ( no picture) and they passed around sides. To end the night they had s'mores plates with fruit, chocolate, marshmallows, etc. It all looks sooo good!

So we end the week with a foodie post. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend and some great food of their own!
