Night on the Town

On Friday night, the Kennell's and the Myers hit the town for some fun. Paceville is the 'club' area of the city and hosts both the night clubs and gentleman's clubs for Malta. Think of it as a 24/7 Burbon Street with fewer beads and more techno/house music.

We started the night at Plush Lounge which claims to have the longest bar in Malta. It's basically three bars connected with glass doors in between all owned by the same people. Since we got there around 10:15 it was just starting to pick up, but the music was crazy and super super loud. Not like 'I'm 90 and think everything is loud' but really loud. So we had a drink, did some people watching and moved on to the next club.

Laura and Mike did some dancing

The second stop only happened because a girl in the street handed us free drink cards to go into the bar called Footloose or something. It was trying to have a western vibe with barrel-style tables & stripper poles on them. You know, make yourself at home standing on the table top and dance if you're so inclined. We just cashed in our cards for the free drink of the night- a tequila sunrise- and did some more people watching.

The third stop was a bar called Havana that is the most American-style club we came across and plays hip hop and rap music. It was pretty full, but had the most diverse crowd ever. Apparently you only have to be 17 here to drink so the club goers started out around 15 years old and some others were gray haired. Everyone was dancing though. It was quite a scene.

End of the night...

Our final stop was a much quieter little restaurant that was open air and had a dj, but clearly was a restaurant with tables and waiters. We ordered a beer and sat around and talked. It was definitely nice to be able to hear each other but still have the option to dance.

Obviously I am making it sound like we are too old and can't handle loud music, but it was a really fun night. We pretty much thought every table of guys we saw were poker players since in most cases there were very few other ways such different people would be out at a club together or be friends. Malta has a very large poker community- a few poker companies are based here- so we also couldn't have been that off on their professions.

Paceville was different from most of the clubs I've ever been to....Fever still holds a spot in my heart....but it was a good time. Tomorrow I will post pictures from our day out at the Fish Market.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! xox
